Now drag the Outro panel about halfway over the video and release to activate the transition. The video should look like this with the Intro panel placed properly. Drag the Intro panel (about halfway) and release. Transition are added by overlapping the Intro and Outro panels with the video. If you have any blank space between the video and the Outro panel then right click on the blank space and select remove. You can drag-and-drop the outro to any point after the end of the video. To insure you insert at the very beginning you can drag it to the area in front of the video. Make sure you drag it completely to the beginning or it will cut into the video at a point you did not intend. To place the intro panel drag-and-drop the panel to the front of the video timeline. The intro panel will be placed where the Playhead is located. To ensure this is done drag the scrubber to the beginning of the video and click on the Timeline to place the Playhead in the correct position. So the intro and the outro must be on the same timeline as the video.īefore you add the Intro panel is is important that you have the Playhead at the very beginning of the video. In Shotcut a transition is created when two pieces (video or slides) overlap. This will remove any blank space and push the video to the start position on the timeline. Now click the timeline to place the playhead. To set the playhead to the beginning of the video click on the scrubber and hold the mouse down and drag it to the beginning. Shotcut will place the playhead at the end of the video when it is dragged-and-dropped. Shotcut uses the metadata from the first file to use for the project, so the first file you put on the timeline should be the actual video you want to edit. Simply drag-and-drop a file and a timeline will be created. To start the edit you will need to drag a file to the timeline which is located under the preview screen. You now have all the files you need to start editing the video in the Playlist panel. If you have the video, the intro and outro and the slides in the same folder you can simply add them all at the same time. Now whenever you import images the duration will be set to this time.Īdding a video to edit can be done by selecting Open File and choosing the video and click Open. Set his default time to 5 seconds (or anytime time length you feel is appropriate) and click the Set Default for the Duration. This Properties tab is where the default time can be set. Click on the Properties tab at the bottom of the panel to the far left. To set this default time select Open File and select an image file and click open. This setting should be set before any images are imported. The one exception is the default time settings for a image file. Most of the settings can be left at the default.
